October in Lake County: Showing Up for Our Community

There is something special about October. The aspens turn gold, the air gets crisp, Halloween decorations start appearing around town—and this year, our community is making an extra effort to show up for one another.
OctoberVille is giving us a wonderful reason to get out, explore our town and support the local businesses that make Leadville such a special place to live. After a challenging summer and the impact of the Willow Fire, many of our local businesses are still recovering from lost customers, disrupted operations and an uncertain season.
Sometimes supporting our community is as simple as stopping for coffee, having dinner downtown, shopping locally, buying a gift from a local maker or attending one of the many October events happening around town.
Showing up matters.
At Rocky Mountain Family Practice, we think about community support in another way, too.
Small businesses are the heart of our community—and the people who own and work for those businesses need access to affordable, personal health care. That's one of the reasons I believe so strongly in what we do here at Rocky Mountain Family Practice.
Healthcare shouldn't be something that forces a small business owner to choose between taking care of themselves and keeping their business running.
Our direct primary care model allows us to provide accessible, relationship-based care while keeping costs manageable. We work with individuals, families and small business owners who want a doctor they can actually reach, time to talk through their concerns and care that doesn't feel rushed or complicated.
Taking care of yourself is one way of taking care of the community, too.
So this October, let's continue to show up—for our neighbors, our local businesses, our families and ourselves.
Shop local. Eat local. Get outside. Enjoy OctoberVille. And if you've been putting off taking care of your own health, maybe October is the month to put yourself back on the list.
Leadville and Lake County are stronger when we take care of one another.
